Farzana Sharmin: People of the whole world are trembling with fear for covid-19 pandemic. This contagious disease do not letting off anyone. So public place is not safe for human safety. Health specialists ; W.H.O have been giving advice people for stay at home. In spite of the risk of public health low incoming people are coming out from home.They are trying to earn money for feeding their children and maintaining their household affairs.
Among of them Shahana Begum who is a vendor of vegetables in Bangladesh. She is 44 years old . Every day she sells different types of vegetables on a wheel barrow across Banasree areas in Dhaka.She is a permanent inhabitant of Kishorganj. She has been working as vegetables of vendor for 4 years. She had been involving another profession 4 years ago.Her husband is from Bagura district. They have been living in Dhaka for 9/10 years.Her husband is a day labourer. His income is now stopped for covid-19 outbreak .So Shahana begum is now only earning member in this corona outbreak time. They have two daughters .They are both school going children. Everyday she sells vegetables from morning to afternoon .
She said about her business during this pandemic period- ” People do not come for buying vegetables during corona pandemic as like normal time. So my income has waned.
Everyday I earn two or three hundred taka during this corona pandemic. I have already invested three thousand taka in this business. Although some Government officials have listed our name in khata, we do not get any Government relief still now.”
Shahana thinks as like other people covid-19 pandemic will be destroyed very soon.On that time she could sell a lot of vegetables again and earn more money.
